Under the British Gas name, Centrica supplies gas and electricity to residential, industrial and commercial customers throughout Great Britain. As the first choice gas supplier for millions of customers, Centrica is also the largest provider of home heating installation and appliance servicing in the country.
GWINTO
The Gas and Water Industries National Training Organisation (GWINTO)
is part of the old National Training Organisation (NTO) network
and is one of 72 original NTOs, which covered UK industry and occupational
sectors. GWINTO was formed in 2001 from the NTO for Gas (GINTO)
and
Water (BETWI). It plays a strategic role in working with the gas
and water sector to address skills and training issues. The NTOs
will be replaced by Sector Skills Councils which will help to give
employers a stronger voice in the planning and delivery of learning
and skills
GWINTO is actively promoting the re-training of many in associated areas of specialism to meet the increasing demands for technicians and engineers. Their research shows that there is a major skills shortage within the gas industry. Filton College has worked closely with GWINTO to offer appropriate training to those in the sector.
