Full-Time Courses (for those over 18)

The NVQ 2 Natural Gas maintenance (6012) and NVQ3 Service and Maintenance (6013) are full-time courses for those interested in entering the gas trade but also recently redundant or long-term unemployed people.

Development and delivery of the curriculum at NVQ levels 2 and 3 are administered by Filton College in consultation with Centrica/British Gas. These qualifications have been developed and designed by the industry itself.

NVQ 2 Natural Gas Maintenance (6012)

30 weeks training with a number of weeks in industry.
The course covers such areas as:

NVQ 3 Service and Maintenance (6013)

A shorter course for those who have already achieved Level 2.

GCSE Applied Engineering

Much of the specific gas training mentioned so far is for those aged 18 or over. However we are increasingly working with local schools to deliver an applied GCSE in engineering to 14-16 year olds. This is a two-year course covering basic design and construction skills and preparing people for a variety of careers in engineering.

First Diploma in Engineering

We offer, to 16 and 17 year olds, a one-year course in Operations and Maintenance Engineering, which is a springboard into many fields of engineering.
