Community
Filton College continues to work with key partners in the community to deliver accessible education and training in areas of significant deprivation. This is the key element in our overall strategy for widening participation. The majority of this work occurs in Southmead, the inner-city areas of St. Pauls and Easton, and in the Patchway area of South Gloucestershire. We are currently reviewing our strategy for the Thornbury and Yate areas and, through partnership, aim to develop local learning centres that will combine IT training with Basic Skills delivery.
Our continued success and growth will depend greatly on our ability to engage
in effective and efficient collaborations and partnerships at the local, regional
and national level. It is a key theme throughout this plan and is critical
to the achievement of our key objectives and targets. To this end, we aim
to be active in initiating, supporting and developing strategies that will
underpin complementarity in the planning and delivery of learning opportunities
in
this area.

Clients will be screened and assessed (incorporating Learn Direct where appropriate) to identify Basic Skills needs.
