John Huggett has been Chair of Filton College Corporation since February 2002 and was previously Vice-Chair from 1998. Born in 1944 he attended St George Grammar School Bristol and whilst undertaking a Student Apprenticeship with the British Aircraft Corporation he attended Bristol College of Science and Technology followed by the London Business School. A Chartered Engineer he has held various senior positions within the aerospace industry. He has always shown a keen interest in training and development and is a mentor for graduates. |
Richard O'Hanlon has been Vice-Chair of Filton College Corporation since February 2002 and a governor since 1996. Born in 1950 he was educated at Sherborne School and the College of Estate Management before qualifying as a Chartered Surveyor and practising in London. He moved to King Sturge in Bristol in 1982 and is now a partner in that firm. |

David Allen is the Staff Governor at Filton High School and has been a governor of Filton College since July 2002. Formerly employed as UK Sales Manager of a water treatment company he became a teacher in 1997 and taught at St Julians School in Newport. He moved to Filton High School as Head of Chemistry in 2001. |
Martin Donelan is currently Learning and Development Manager for the Defence Aerospace business at Rolls-Royce plc Filton. A graduate in European Business Studies at Swansea University he has since completed a Masters degree in Managing Human Resources at the University of the West of England and joined Rolls Royce in 1989. He joined Filton College Corporation in April 2002. |

William Evans has been a governor since February 2000. Since qualifying as a solicitor in 1969 he has worked for various local authorities including Avon County Council and, more recently, Bristol Polytechnic and the University of the West of England. He is also a chairman of the Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal and the Care Standards Tribunal. |
Therese Gillespie is Director of Education for South Gloucestershire and has been a member of Filton College Corporation since October 1990. A graduate of Queens University Belfast, she has worked in various areas of education since 1974, including the Department of Education for Northern Ireland, the former Food, Drink and Tobacco Industry Training Board, Bristol Polytechnic and Avon County Council. |

Carmen Hutchinson has many years of experience working in a multi-cultural setting. Her background is in Financial Management. She was Senior Training Officer at the CEED Charity Limited, a Bristol-based organisation which promotes employment and training opportunities for ethnic minorities under Sections 37 and 38 of the Race Relations Act 1976. She is now employed by Bridging the Gap as a Community Support Worker and has been a governor since February 2000. |

with The Royal Aeronautical Society and The Institution of
Mechanical
Engineers. He currently works at the Defence Procurement Agency
at MOD Abbey |
Chris Newman is Director of Student Services at Filton College and was elected Staff governor in January 2001. Although his first degree (Bristol University) was in Aeronautical Engineering he also completed an MA in Mathematics at Bath University and an MEd at Cardiff. He has taught Mathematics at all levels including at the State University of New York. He has previously held various appointments at Filton College and is currently responsible for providing access for all students to appropriate programmes, for supporting them while on their courses and for providing help and guidance to enable them to reach their full potential. |

Dorothy Thomas joined Filton Corporation in September 2001. She was born in Australia in 1941 but has spent almost all of her life in the UK. She retired in 2000 as Deputy head of Hanham High School following a career as a teacher of French and Spanish. Her responsibilities have included running language faculties, developing projects for language diversification, new GCSE and A Level initiatives and delivery of teacher in-service training. |

Roger Hutchinson has been chair of Filton Town Council since 1996 and a member of South Gloucestershire Council, where he currently chairs the Planning, Transport and Strategic Environment Select Committee, since 1995. Following training as an electrician with British Rail he worked as a trade union official and a Labour Party Regional Organiser. He joined Filton College Corporation in October 2002. |
